How Deep Work done
The first strategy to achieve deep work is to know thats its a skill which needs practice and you get better with time. Initially you would be hardly able to get 15 mins of actual deep work but with constant practice you can increase it to 4-5 hours a day. Follow these guidelines and they would give you a good starting point:
- Consciously ignore distractions:Everyone gets distracted, its how the brain is wired. The part of brain which does the work has to compete with the part which likes distractions. You have to continuously ignore all distractions like buzzing phone or that sound of ping on some chat application.
- Importance: Continuously remind your self that the work you are doing is really important and other things can wait. Once you are practicing this your mind would start trusting you in deciding whats important.
- Slow down on impulses: We tend to react too fast on a thought like “Oh let me check if I locked my car or not.” Remember these are tricks played by the part of mind which likes distractions to win over the part which wants you to work deeply.
